These Men They Call Knights Who We Are
And What We Do!
The Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882 by a 29 year old parish priest, Father Michael J. McGivney, in the basement of St. Mary's Church in New Haven, Connecticut. In 2012 we will celebrate the130th year since the founding of the Order, and has becme the largest lay organization in the Catholic Church with over 1.7 million members world wide.
The Order has been called " the right arm of the Church," and has been praised by popes, presidents and other world leaders>
Councils throughout the order are dedicated in thier service to the Church and communities. Individual councils hold many fundraising events throughout the year to help those in need
